Topshelf Retrievers and Kennels is owned and operated by Matt and Kathy Peters. We are located 10 miles north of Milaca, Minnesota on 40 acres. We are dedicated to producing top quality Labrador Retrievers for companions, hunting partners, and competition dogs.
Kathy has been working with Labrador Retrievers since 1999. She competes in both AKC Hunt Test, Field Trials and is a avid waterfowler and upland hunter. Along with taking care of the dogs, she works at Abbott Northwesten Hospital as a Emergency Medical Technician.
Matt has been working with dogs since 1991. In 2001 he got into the hunt test and field trial games with his dog Alley. Then he moved out to North Carolina to work with a pro trainer. To further improve his skills as a handler in 2002 he went to Texas for the winter trip with another pro trainer. Matt is a dedicated hunter, spending most of the fall hunting ducks. When not in the duck blind he never passes up the chance to hunt pheasant and grouse.
In March of 2008 we welcomed our newest dog trainer and our first child Dylan. Hopefully he will injoy the outdoors and working with dogs as much as we do.
